The Importance of Daylighting
Did you know that the presence of daylight through windows or skylights can affect how you feel? Studies have shown that daylighting can improve your emotional well being on a daily basis. In households which include the elderly, there are less falls in better lit spaces.
We’re willing to bet that someone you know suffers from the “winter blues”. This time of year, with shorter days and longer periods of darkness, many of us can’t wait for Spring, Summer and warmer days. But in reality, we yearn for the longer periods of daylight. When we use better daylighting in our homes (with the correct placement of windows or skylights), we to get to enjoy every minute of natural brightness that the day provides.
Skylights make so much sense in a kitchen where you often don’t have as much room for windows because of the need for cabinetry. After completing a renovation for one family, the mom told us that she walked into her new kitchen on a very gloomy overcast winter day.
